No.12 | MAP② 12 | 丸亀城 Marugame Castle Unique Venues 重要文化財 Important Cultural Properties 400年の歴史を刻み、石垣の高さ日本一を誇る丸亀のシンボル A symbol of Marugame, with 400 years of rich history and Japan's tallest stone wall 野外パーティー、イベント、コンサート Outdoor parties, events, concerts Marugame Castle is one of only 12 castles with its original main tower surviving from the Edo Period (1603-1868). The main tower, as well as the large Ichi-no-mon and Ni-no-mon Gates, are National Important Cultural Properties, while the front gate, guard station, and nagaya row houses are designated as Prefectural Tangible Cultural Properties. The main tower and surrounding enclosure overlook the Sanuki Plain, and also provide a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. However, the main tower plaza is located a 10-minute walk up a steep hill from the front gate. This makes use of the space difficult in bad weather, so please inquire if you wish to use the space. In some cases usage fees can be exempted or maximum fees of ¥5,000 yen may not apply. 天守と日本一の高さの石垣 Main tower with Japan's tallest stone wall 22 江戸時代から残っている現存12天守の1つである丸亀城。 天守、大手一の門、二の門は国の重要文化財、玄関先御門・番所・長屋は県の有形文化財に指定されています。天守がある本丸からは、讃岐平野が見渡せ、瀬戸内海の美しい景色も大パノラマで見る事ができます。また、丸亀城内の広場では様々なイベントも開催されています。
